How to migrate your Princh solution to a different server

Migrating your Princh solution to a different server? All the needed information can be found right here.

Moving your Princh services to a new server is a seamless process. Once the new server is set up in your network and the migration of the Princh services is ready to be completed, you can proceed to follow the guide below.

It is important that full administrator rights are given on the new server and that the printers are accessible on the local network.

Server migration overview:

Based on the printer's capabilities, configure and connect the printer on the new server within the local network:
  • If the Princh printer(s) are currently configured using Windows Print Queue(s), ideally, replicate the printer setup to new server. See step 1 for further details.
  • If the Princh printer(s) are currently configured using IPP/IPPS protocol(s), no reconfiguration is needed, proceed directly to the step 2, "Installing the Princh Cloud Connector on the new server".

1. Configuration using Windows Queue

If your printers are configured using Windows Print Queues, the printer configuration from the former server should ideally be replicated on to the new server. This entails:

  • Giving the printer an identical printer name on the new server.
  • Configuring the printer with identical settings as was on the old server.

Completing the listed steps will help ensure that Princh will continue to work as before the server migration. Additionally, it makes it even easier for Princh to reestablish connection to the printer.

2. Installing the Princh Cloud Connector on the new server

When migrating to a new server, a new Princh Cloud Connector must also be created and installed. The Princh Cloud Connector installed on the the former server is specifically created for that server and cannot be reused due to its unique encryption and decryption keys located only on that previous server.

  • A guide on how to create and install a new connector for the new server, can be found RIGHT HERE.

3. Moving printers to new Connector

Once the new Princh Cloud Connector has been installed on the new server, all that is left is moving the printers to the new Princh Cloud Connector in the Princh Administration Panel under the tab 'Connectors'.
