If you've submitted a color print job through Princh but your document prints in black and white (monochrome), don’t worry—there are a few common causes for this issue. We’ve outlined some potential solutions below
Error:
In this case, the Princh Cloud Connector is most likely connected to a legacy Windows print queue installed on your print server. As a result, all print jobs are routed through this print queue before being sent to the printer. The two main causes include:
- Cause 1: The print queue uses a driver or defaults that force grayscale/monochrome output
- Cause 2: Wrong or Incompatible printer driver
Solution:
- Cause 1: The print queue uses a driver or defaults that force grayscale/monochrome output:
- Access the print server running the Princh Cloud Connector
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- Right-click the printer > Printing Preferences
- Look for options like:
"Print in Grayscale"
"Black & White"
"Monochrome" - Ensure it's set to Color.
This is a common issue with legacy print queues, especially if a Universal Print Driver (UPD) is in use or a generic driver was installed.
- Cause 2: Wrong or incompatible printer driver. A monochrome or wrong driver might be installed and used by the legacy print queue:
- Access the print server running the Princh Cloud Connector
- Go to Printer Properties > Advanced > Driver
- See if it's using a PCL5, PCL6, or PS driver that may not support color.
- Look up the printer model and ensure the correct color-capable driver is installed.
Visit the printer manufacturer's website and download the newest driver for the operating system of your print server. In some cases, you can just download the driver, and in other cases, the driver is included in the downloadable printer application.
