How to disable paper format detection

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to disable the paper format detection on a printer connected via IPP, IPPS, or CUPS.

Paper format detection is enabled by default on all printers connected via IPP,  IPPS, or CUPS (Linux). This will allow Princh to detect which paper formats are available in the printer trays and report to the user and staff if the required paper format is unavailable. When should this be disabled? Disabling the paper format detection should only be done in the case of a printer being unable to correctly detect the paper formats available in the trays. We recommend that the printer issue is addressed, and that the paper format detection is re-enabled. Having the paper format detection enabled will provide your users and the staff with the best experience.

  1. Log in to the Princh Administration Panel as an administrator and navigate to the "Connectors" tab located in the menu to the left.

  2. Select the connector where the printer you want to edit is located, and then click the blue button to the right labeled  "Edit".
    1. While in the "Printer connection" menu, find "Printer Connection URI", and click the blue pencil next to it to edit the connection.

  3. Under settings, click the checkbox to uncheck and disable the paper format detection.
  4. Once unchecked, click "Next", and the printer's connection will be verified. The printer now has paper format detection disabled. 

Once paper format detection has been configured, it is important to restart the connector to confirm the changes. Simply click the "Restart Connector" button and the restart process will take about 20 seconds. To confirm that the printer is online and ready, go to the "Printers" page from the left-hand menu and check for a green tick next to the printer's name. If you have two online connectors, you will have to click "Restart Connector" on both of them.
